Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 28, 2026 · Last updated: April 28, 2026

The Veteran Resource Center (“VRC,” “we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit theveteranresourcecenter.com, complete an eligibility quiz, or otherwise engage with our services, and how we use, share, and protect that information. This policy is governed by U.S. federal and state law, and applies to U.S. residents only.

Not a government website. The Veteran Resource Center is a privately owned, for-profit insurance lead-generation and referral service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, or any other federal, state, or local government agency.

1. Information We Collect

When you complete our eligibility check or quiz, we collect:

  • Identifying information: first and last name, date of birth, ZIP code, state.
  • Contact information: mobile or landline phone number, email address.
  • Eligibility-related information: branch of service, intended beneficiary, coverage interest.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, UTM/click-ID parameters from advertising platforms (Meta, Google, etc.), and timestamps of your interactions.
  • Carrier and line-type information: when you provide a phone number, we use Twilio Lookup to verify the number is in service and to identify whether it is a mobile, landline, or VoIP line, and the underlying carrier (e.g., Verizon Wireless, AT&T).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your eligibility request and connect you with a licensed insurance agent.
  • To contact you by phone, SMS, and email about life insurance products you have inquired about.
  • To verify your phone number is valid and in service before contacting you.
  • To improve our website, advertising, and customer service.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including TCPA, CAN-SPAM, CCPA, and state insurance regulations.

3. SMS / Text Messaging Program

Consent. By submitting your phone number through our eligibility form and tapping the “See my rate” button, you expressly consent to receive recurring text messages (SMS and MMS) from The Veteran Resource Center and its licensed agents at the phone number you provided, including marketing messages sent using an automatic telephone dialing system or pre-recorded voice. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase of any goods or services.

What you’ll receive

  • A confirmation message after you submit your eligibility check.
  • Appointment reminders and call-back notifications from a licensed agent.
  • Follow-up messages about your quote and policy options.
  • Occasional informational messages about benefits available to U.S. veterans 50–85.

Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your activity. Most users receive 4–8 messages per month.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your wireless carrier and plan. The Veteran Resource Center does not charge you to receive these messages.

Opt-out

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us. After you reply STOP, you will receive one final message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and we will not send you any further marketing text messages.

Help

For help, reply HELP to any text message, or contact us at [email protected].

Carriers

Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and most other major U.S. wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Mobile information sharing

The Veteran Resource Center will not share, sell, or transfer your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data to third parties or affiliates for the purpose of marketing, promotional, or lead-generation activities by those third parties. We share your phone number only with the licensed insurance agents who service your eligibility request and with the service providers necessary to deliver SMS messages to you (e.g., Twilio).

4. How We Share Your Information

We share the information you provide with:

  • Licensed insurance agents who are appointed to discuss life insurance options with you, in response to your inquiry.
  • Service providers who help us operate our business, including Google (Google Sheets, Apps Script), Twilio (phone verification and messaging), Meta and Microsoft (advertising and analytics), and email-delivery services. These providers are contractually limited to using your information only to perform services for VRC.
  • Government authorities when required by law, subpoena, or court order.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (including Meta Pixel and Microsoft Clarity) to understand site usage, measure ad performance, and improve user experience. You may disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect site functionality.

6. Data Retention

We retain the information you provide for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Typical retention is 7 years for lead records and TCPA consent records, after which records are securely deleted or anonymized.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to (a) request access to the personal information we hold about you, (b) request correction of inaccurate information, (c) request deletion of your information, and (d) opt out of certain uses of your information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request.”

8. California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at the address below.

9. Children

Our services are not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
